Call for Presenters
Thank you for your interest in submitting a proposal to speak at THE Conference on Wed., April 13, 2011. THE Conference offers the best educational opportunities to professionals from across NEPA.
Proposal Submission Guidelines:
1.) Presentation Submission: All proposals must be submitted electronically.
2.) Profiles of Presenters: If more than one presenter is involved, the lead presenter should be identified as the contact. However, all required information about the professional qualifications, experience, evaluations and references should be furnished for ALL presenters included in the proposal.
3.) Partnering:
- Presenter Panels are encouraged where appropriate. However, panels should be limited to four (4) members.
- Consultants are encouraged to include clients as co-presenters whenever they can demonstrate an example through actual case studies.
4.) Complimentary Registration: Presentations made at the conference are considered contributions to the profession and all related expenses are the responsibility of the presenters. THE Conference will provide the presenter(s) complimentary registration/s for the day of the presentation
5.) Presenter Substitutions or Revisions: Substitution of primary or secondary presenters after the proposal is accepted should be approved by THE Conference. If emergency or time constraints prevent evaluation of a substitute presenter, THE Conference reserves the right to cancel the presentation, and/or assign it to another available presenter whose approved proposal is on file.
6.) Proposals On File: Proposals are kept on file for one year following the original submission, and need not be resubmitted, unless updates or revisions are planned. Additionally, if any new rules have been established since the proposal was last submitted, the presenter will be required to agree to the new rules and revise the proposal if necessary.
7.) Presentation Day and Time: Presentations are scheduled throughout the conference and presenters cannot be given a preference or choice of time slot.
8.) Editing and Refining the Proposal: Once submitted, a proposal may only be refined by submitting a new copy. It is therefore suggested that presenters maintain an electronic version in case a change has to be made. Proposals AND Revisions (except in the instance outlined in section 5) are not allowed after the deadline.
9.) Presentation Terms: All presenters must agree to the following terms:
- Consultants and commercial products/service providers may not promote their company, products or services as part of their presentations. Any use of proprietary information should have an educational value and be provided free of charge.
- Authors may not sell their books during their sessions, but that does not prevent them from using and referencing their own materials in their presentation. If the whole presentation is based on an author’s published book, relevant portions of the text or theories should be made available in original or abridged form as a handout or included on the presentation slides, free of cost. (Authors may sell their books by purchasing a discounted booth in the exhibit hall.)
10.) Eligibility for Submitting Proposals: While the objective is to provide the latest information that will enhance the professional knowledge of members, the following guidelines will be used:
- Preference will be given to presenters with certification in a specific practice area, history in presenting to adult learners at conferences and in educational situations.
- Preference will be given to those with significant practical experience in one of THE Conference key focus areas including (1) Business Management and Leadership, (2) Marketing and Communications, (3) Human Resources, and (4) Nonprofit Advancement.
- THE Conference committee reserves the right to seek presenters on a variety of topics from both at large submissions and direct contact with members.
- Presentations may be recorded and made available through the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber or Association of Fundraising Professionals NEPA Chapter for archiving, sale, or member access with no tangible benefit to the presenters.
NOTE: 20 minute walk-in sessions are offered in the How-To Theatre and are conducted in the Exhibit Hall on a variety of subjects. These session must be “How To” in nature and focus around one of the four key focus areas.
11.) All Workshops will be evaluated by attendees via survey and word-of-mouth feedback. Presenters should not use their own evaluation method, but should request their scores from THE Conference.
